Melbourne day 2

Today I joined a walking tour around Melbourne which was really interesting and a chance to meet some really nice people. It seemed to cover a lot of the city and explained the origins and how it boomed when gold was discovered. It was all founded by the English kicking out the aboriginals. I couldn't decide if I should feel guilty about this and the fact that aboriginals weren't classed as humans until the 1960s! They came in flora and fauna! We also went down a few of the famous Melbourne lane ways which are full of cafés and coffee shops. Looked delicious! We also saw a lot of street art which apparently Melbourne is famous for. It all seemed quite staged as they had special area to do it in and you had to apply for a permit.

After the tour I took the tram to St Kilda which is the beach area of Melbourne. Itwasn't  warm enough to swim or sunbathe so I just did some reading. Came home tonight and saw I'm so red!! So embarrassed. I went back just before sun set as I found out on the tour this morning that they have a group of penguins down there and you could see them at dusk. I was really glad to find out about this as I was sorry that I wasn't going to be able to fit in going to Philip Island which has the large penguin parade. Well I didn't see much, but I did see a few penguins in the rocks where they live, but none waddling out of the sea. Apparently it is a very quiet time of year for them.

It was so cold!
