Thailand. Bangkok second time.

We bussed it from Siem Reap to Bangkok on a long ride. We made it through the boarder easily and checked back into our most luxurious hotel of the month. We then went out for dinner at another charity restaurant which our group seems to love! This one was about promoting sexual health and had some crazy statues and light fittings made from condoms! Really bizarre! We then went out for drinks and said our goodbyes as the tour was finished!!!

I was joining my new tour at a hotel opposite so I left my stuff in the hotel and wandered around Bangkok. I walked to Jim Thompson's house. Jim Thompson was an American architect who brought Thai  silk to the worlds attention. I had to walk though the back streets of Bangkok to get there are didn't see another white person, but it was a really interesting walk. His house was like a tranquil oasis in the bustling city. It was beautiful. You had to go on a tour of the house and it was made up of six beautiful traditional teak Thai houses. It was spectacular. The garden was beautiful too. There was not much to learn about silk, just lots of beautiful things to look at and not take photos of unfortunately.

It is such a beautiful style of architecture. I would love a house like his! Jim Thompson went missing on a trip to the Cameron Highlands so I hope to find out more about him when I visit there soon.

After heading back I went to check in at my new hotel. I met my room mate who was lovely, and then went back to the nice hotel for a shower as it was so much better there!! I finally said goodbye to Steph and went to join my new trip!

We had out welcome meeting and lots of us had just finished the Indochina trip, except they did the YOLO so it was cool so chat to them about that. We went out for dinner at a street cafe which was great. This was the kind of eating I had been wanting to do in Asia! I didn't fancy the trip to Khao San for drinking so headed back like the old lady I am!

The next day it met up with a few members of the new group who wanted to go to the grand palace. We took the ferry there which was cool and only 15 baht. My google mapping skills were out to good use! We hired a guide to show us the palace which was great. It was gaudy and magnificent! So much bling!

After the palace we had a quick visit to Khao San Road to do some shopping for more trousers! We took the ferry back down the river again and back to our hotel. We got ready and left for another night train! First bad difference of the yolo trip, not room held for us to shower in before getting the train!
