Australia. Rainbow Beach

I stopped in Rainbow Beach for the day before my Fraser trip and for two nights after. I was reccomended to stay there as aposed to Hervey Bay as it was a much nicer little town. Well they were right with little! It was tiny but very sweet. My first night there was spent getting ready for Frasers so I didn't get to see the town, other than the off licence!

When I returned I spent my only full day there on the beach with a girl I met from the tour. The beach was very pretty but the sand was so fine, the wind blew it around everywhere and stuck to every inch of my suntan lotioned body!

In the evening I went on the sunset walk to Carlo Sandblow which ran from the hostel. The people I met had been there many times and said how amazing it was. The sandblow was just like the ones on Fraser Island and we sat on it was watched the sun set. It was spectacular!

As ever, photos just can't do it justice!

On my final day in Rainbow Beach I took a walk along the coast to see the coloured sand which lend their name to the town. The sand ranged from white, yellow, orange, red and black. They wee once mined for there minerals.

On leaving Rainbow Beach we drove past a forest fire. This is what we could see in the distance from Fraser Island as we were waiting to catch the ferry. It was only small but is keeping going.

I'm writing this as I wait for my connecting bus at Hervey Bay. This will be my 12 hour overnight bus to Airlie Beach. Not looking forwards to another overnighter!!
