Australia. Townsville

So Townsville was an unplanned stop. And I could see why I had not planned to go there! As the busses were still off I had to play the waiting game. I chose to leave magnetic island to get a bit of civilisation and it did have some. I spent my first day there at the aquarium. They have a red aquarium and as my outer reef diving trip had been cancelled in Cairns I thought this would be my nearest experience! It was pretty small but still cool. Saw lots of fish and they had some cool coral. Even saw a turtle which I had missed out on in the Whitsundays!

I had to wear my sunglasses inside when looking at the fish as my eye was so sensitive to light even indoors! I must have looked like such a weirdo.

As everyone in the hostel had been stuck in Townsville, either can't get to Cairns on now they were cancelling the southbound buses too as the cyclone traveled south, people were ringing up Greyhound and getting so much different information. I was supposed to be booked on to the Tuesday bus and after hearing a lot of different stories I rang up to check it was on. Having told other it was off and others it was definitly on, they told me it might be on. Argh!! I needed to get to Cairns for my flight to Alice Sprongs on Wednesday for my Uluru tour. So they text me later to say the bus was cancelled so I had to fork out $190 on a plane to get me there. So annoying! Byway long story short, they decided to run some buses after I had paid out. But at least I got to leave and only on a two hour flight and not a 8 hour bus! But had to sleep the night in Cairns airport whilst waiting for my next flight. I had spend enough money so I wasn't going to fork out for an airport transfer and a hostel! They had showers and I had a pedicure and got some sleep, then they chucked us out between 1 and 3 then got some more sleep when we were allowed back in. Long night!!
